Food Friday: Chowder from Canada

Community cookbooks are published by all kinds of organizations and groups. One of the most ephemeral is probably the cookbooks published by a RV park or campground. Unlike the cookbooks compiled by churches, schools, and civic groups, these cookbooks make it difficult to reconstruct a semi-permanent community. Additionally,  the recipes are much more diverse and may reflect family or regional favorites or easy-to-cook recipes for those on the road.

Today's recipe comes from The Traveler Park Cookbook from Port Isabel, Texas. Recipes are from park residents from 1974-1990. The vast span of time means that the recipes reflect various food fads over almost two decades.

Some of the recipes in The Travelers Park Cookbook are from residents of Texas and nearby states but this recipe for Mother's Chowder comes from Innerkip, Canada.
