Food Friday: Chow-Chow

...Tried Recipes from the Lutheran Ladies Aid Society of Fisher, Minnesota is one that I have highlighted before. This circa 1941 cookbook has a lot of great recipes and advertisements.

I love this cookbook because it's a good example of a cookbook that also serves as a business city directory. I'm a big fan of funeral home, cemetery, and monument  advertisements in cookbooks.

Today's recipe reminds me of my maternal grandmother. Chow-Chow, if you haven't had it before, is a vegetable relish. You can check out some recipes and images of chow-chow on Pinterest. I think the last time I ate some was when she was alive, over 25 years ago.
