Food Friday: Food Writers' Soups, Stews and Casseroles

I love community cookbooks that provide more information than just a name, place, and a recipe. So it's probably no surprise that those published under the brand Food Writers' Favorites would be some of my favorites.

Each and every recipe includes the name of the newspaper the writer works for and a story about the recipe. How great would that be to have  those types of stories accompany all community cookbook recipes?

So today's recipe from Soups, Stews and Casseroles (1990) is actually two recipes because I like the story behind them. First is Cream of Corn Soup which includes the food writer's parents' names and ages at marriage.

And the second recipe is for Chicken Italian which includes the name of the writer's friend and her city of residence.
