Food Friday: Rose P Ravenel's Charleston Cookbook

Today's Food Friday pick is a bit different than the typical community cookbooks I write about. Rose P. Ravenel's Cookbook. Charleston Recollections and Receipts (1983) is based on a manuscript cookbook kept by Rose Pringle Ravenel (1850-1943) and compiled in this edition by Elizabeth Ravenel Harrigan.

What's great about this cookbook? Everything. It is a wonderful combination of  recipes and family history information. A combination that more of us should consider publishing in honor of our own family histories.

One of the stories in this cookbook has to do with the death of her brother.
