Today's Food Friday recipe is
From Below Sea Level. Recipes from The Conchilla Ladies Auxiliary. (1984)
So this cookbook is a bit of a mystery. The Ladies Auxiliary is part of the Fraternal Order of Police Desert Lodge Number One-11 which appears to have originated in Indio, California (that's near Palm Springs). On the introductory page to this cookbook they write that they were charted in January 1984 and are the first ladies auxiliary to be formed in California. At first I thought that was a typo and should be 1884 but further research indicates the Order was founded in 1981. So no ladies auxiliaries in California before 1984? Maybe they mean ladies auxiliaries to police fraternal orders?

And in case you are familiar with that area and think I committed a typo when I said this was the Conchilla Ladies Auxiliary, a quick look at the Wikipedia
page for Coachella, California indicates that one theory about the name Coachella is that it might have been originally Conchilla.
Anyway, I chose this cookbook today hoping you are in need of a turkey recipe for some of your leftovers from yesterday. I present to you Turkey Salad Supreme.
