Food Friday: Side Dishes from the Church of the Brethren

Since we are approaching Canadian Thanksgiving I thought I'd use this Food Friday to provide some ideas for side dishes courtesy of the 1977 cookbook, Our Daily Bread. Washington Creek Church of the Brethren.

While there is no information about what place the cookbook is from, through a little help from Google I would guess it is a congregation in Lawrence, Kansas.

And the image Google shows for this church does look like the cover illustration.

What Thanksgiving would be complete without  some cranberry? This cucumber salad is also something I'd  like to try.

Now, as I was trying to find a turkey recipe I stumbled upon the casserole section. And let's just say it's a good study in 1970s casseroles.  I have to admit, at the risk of making my Dr. roll her eyes, I would eat the Sauerkraut-Cheese Casserole found on the bottom of this page.

  1. The Sauerkraut-Cheese Casserole does sound disgustingly good!
